Hi everyone, way back in January I went to the March for Life, but only posted part of my pictures. You can find part one hear. DC part 1.
Well, here is part 2 of the DC trip.
Museum of American History
Whale (I think) hanging from the ceiling.
Part of a boat that I believe sunk in the war of 1812. I could have my facts mixed up though.
Museum of Natural History
Elephant in the circle room.
Each of those was another level filled with stuff, the rooms are deceptively large.
The hall of the mammals.
These little statues were carved out of elephant's tusks.
This was in the hall of mammals. I thought it looked neat.
Galadriel took this less blurry picture of it.
Again, we went into the circle elephant room.
I believe this was taken from a level up.
Giant bones belonging to some sea animal.
Mummy wrapped cow head thing
Mummy box.
So all the rooms connected, at least that's what I though. Us kids were tired of waiting for the slow grownups (yeah I'm really a grownup) so Galadriel, a few cousins and I went from room to room trying to take the short cut to the hope diamond. We passed this palm tree, and came to a dead end. We eventually discovered that we had to cut though the photograph gallery (which I have no pictures of). We really took the long way. I was sure we were lost for a bit.
Sorry about that blurriness, but this is the entrance to the Hope Diamond room.
Hmm... I was really expecting something much more impressive.
After passing the hope diamond we went through the rock rooms. One was set up to look like a mine. Pictures didn't do any of the exhibits justice.
Rocks.
Back to the elephant.
People on the first floor.
Galdriel, Aunt N and cousin T. Waiting for the rest of the group.
The day after visiting the two museums we went to visit a couple of memorial.
Jefferson memorial.
Believe it or not that's where we were walking too. We had to go around the river.
Famous bridge.
Approaching the memorial.
Washington monument in the distance. It was closed.
Closer
Closer
Finally there.
I forgot how tall he was. I think it was something like 18 feet.
Galadriel took this picture.
There was a lot of writing on the walls. I only took a picture of one wall. My battery was dying.
We passed through the FDR memorial, and saw a couple of other ones, but I saved my battery for the Lincoln memorial.
So in Night at the Museum Secret of the Tomb where exactly was Larry Daley?
In the movie couldn't you see Lincoln from the bottom of the stairs?
I really need to rewatch that movie. I don't think it was accurate.
Lincoln
Reflecting pool and Washington monument.
Long walk back to the car.
Waiting for the plane to take us home.
Tried to get a picture of the flight home because it looked neat with the sunset and the blanket of clouds.
Lights from the city below.
Not sure how my picture of the White House got down here.
All pictures below were taken by Galadriel. They are in no particular order.
I believe we forgot to tell my brothers about this. It was around five feet tall and made entirely of legos.
This is one of the chapels in the Cathedral. Don't ask me what kind of art that is.
Inside the Cathedral.
Roof of the Cathedral.
Someone is buried here. I want to say it's the Bishop who built the Cathedral.
Another side chapel. There was tons of them. Some were really beautiful.
We were in a hurry, otherwise I would have gone and looked for Wisconsin. These ring of odd blocks had the names of the states written on them. One for each state I believe.
This is the gateway.
Airplane ride.
FDR memorial.
Jefferson memorial.
Lincoln memorial.
"Trixie"
"Rexy"
Galadriel and I in front of the Lincoln memorial.
Galadriel and I in front of the White house.

Thank you Catherine. Unfortunately my camera takes terrible indoor pictures, which is why the ones taken outside look better. :D
DeleteLove all of these pictures! It looks like a fun trip!

Thank you Anna. I loved the trip and the march. I want to go again, but not in an airplane. I got an ear infection on the return trip, made worse by the pressure in the plane. Next time I prefer to drive. :D
DeleteLoved seeing all these pictures Eowyn!!
