First book he was ever in: "The Black Horizon"
First time he was introduced: (I already edited the book a million times, so this paragraph wasn't in the story originally, so it it isn't really the first time he was introduced)
The day had begun
with a relentless heat. Sweat ran down my face and soaked through my
shirt making it itch. My older brother Philip pounded at the forge
with a hammer and sang a sea shanty at the top of his lunges. My arms
ached from pumping the bellows, but my ears hurt worse. Philip's
voice was far from pleasing. Thomas, another one of my brothers, was
swinging a finely made cutlas in the air. He would occasionally join
in the chorus. I found his voice no more pleasing then I found
Philip's voice.
~The Black Horizon
Ben is from a long line of pirates, but he doesn't approve of piracy and it was a terrible shock to him when he discovered the truth about his father. But by the second book it doesn't seem to bother him anymore. But he does still retain a sense of right and wrong. He pays for the ship he stole, even though he did find out the other person had originally stolen it from Ben's father.
Drawn by Rosie.
At fifteen Ben was branded with the blackmark causing his life to be ruined.
At Sixteen Ben played his archenemies twisted treasure hunt in exchange for his brother's life.
At Seventeen Ben hunted the terrible pirate Hunter known as the Shark.
At Eighteen Ben adopted his younger cousin, Jim.
Oh and a lot of other things happen too, but that would spoil the books.
